WOW, I can hardly believe it's been a month since my last post. We have been so busy. The kids all have their very last soccer games next Saturday, I can hardly contain my excitement! We had one of the soccer parties today, so only 2 more to go! The kids are already talking about the Spring and what sports they want to do. Clay found out the other day that a friend of his does 'wrestling'...so guess what he wants to do...!! As if I don't witness enough wrestling in our playroom on a daily basis. Today Clay got a fat lip from Corey, but guess what, they were wrestling!
Kaitlyn wants to stick to soccer, but her Coach is taking a break, so I think she'll do some soccer camps to keep herself in shape.
School is getting crazy! Clay has 'pilgrim' centers this week...I can't wait! It's so cute! All the kids dress in Pilgrim Garb and do 'pilgrim' things. Next week, they will do Indian stuff and dress up!! TOO CUTE!
Dwayne has been working like crazy, so I have been a single parent, as usual. He is really sad that he has missed so many soccer games...that's not like him. It's hard to miss the games...I HATE to miss the games, but I'm tired of the chaos on Saturdays!
In a couple of weeks, we are going to some friend's to a Christmas Dessert Party! Can't wait! What could be more fun..adults, Dessert, no kids, Dessert!?!?! YUM! Oh yeah, if you have any great recipes, send them on....I may need some ideas to take!
Other than that, we are just doing the normal stuff from day to day...work, school, soccer, housework, schoolwork, yardwork...etc...you get the hint!
More later...it's about time to start fininshing my shopping....I hate waiting til the last minute, but sometimes you just have to. I've started, and purchased a couple of things...but first, have to think of Thanksgiving and passing our time around to all the families that want to spend their time with us...man we are popular!
Have a great week and enjoy this cool weather!!!

Fall is in the AIR?!?!?!
I don't think in Houston, Fall is EVER in the air...lol! But it is October and that means it's time for one of my most favorite recipes!!
PUMPKIN MUFFINS---------------
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. oil 2 eggs
1/3 c. water
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. flour
1 c. pumpkin
Mix first 5 ingredients together. Then add spices, soda, flour and pumpkin. Grease mini-muffin tins and bake at 350degrees for about 20 minutes. This will make 4 dozenmini-muffins. They can be made ahead of time and frozen inZiplock bags.
These little muffins are the bomb! I love to make them up for teachers before the Thanksgiving break, they are always a huge hit...at home and everywhere!! SO, if you make anything with pumpkin, you HAVE to make this!!
YUMMY!!

Driving....
So, today we had 4 soccer games. On the way to soccer games #2 and 3, we stopped to pick up Cami, Kaitlyn's BFF---and waiting at the light on Louetta and Stuebner, we were hit from behind. The kids freaked out! I heard a CRASH, and looked in the rearview mirror only to see a minivan coming for me...so, I let off the brake and moved as close as I could to the car in front of me, except, it wasn't nearly enough room, so the minivan hit me and moved us, luckily, NO ONE was hurt and we didn't hit the car in front of us. I told the kids to stay put, while Cami and Kaitlyn were almost in tears. When I got out and could only see the car behind me and saw how crashed the front was, I was almost in tears...LOL! But much to my surprise, the minivan had hit my towing hitch and tore her bumper up...mine had a couple of scratches on it and the hitch had some license plate on it, but otherwise we were good!! THANK Goodness! The lady in the minivan had been hit by a teenager and her car was not in good shape! Plus she was pregnant! I asked her if she wanted me to stay with her, but she said she was fine....so, we proceeded to the games! I used this time as a learning tool for the kiddos...reminding them about seatbelts, and other car manners!! WHEW!!
So, when I called Dwayne, he didn't answer --- he was working ---he called back about 1.5 hours later and I told him we'd been in an accident, his response was "SHUT UP"!!! LOL! We play around a lot, so he didn't believe me! Anyway....no moral to my story, just wanted to tell it!!
I'm just glad tomorrow is Sunday! A day of rest! After 4 games of soccer, we were literally at the field from 8am til about 4:30pm with about an hour break inbetween!!!
Hope you all enjoy your Sunday! After church...I'm going to hit the couch and do nothing!! Except of course, wash Corey's gym uniform...UGH...the dreadfulness of Jr. HIGH!! See you all later!!!!!

Kids....more specifically TWEENS!!!
Help me to understand...I love my 11-year-old son, but sometimes he makes me so crazy! It doesn't matter what I do for him, he thinks I'm out to get him?!?! I try to help him study for a test, he thinks I want him to fail; I help him pick out some clothes, he thinks I'm trying to make him look like a dork!! I just can't win! I'm not liking the "tween" years already!! Is it just me or are they getting more difficult? I just can't remember ever acting this way with my mom...UGH! Okay, enough, I just had to vent!!!!!

YAY!!! The lights are ON!!
So, it only took 9 (NINE!!) days to get our power back on, and what a jig we did when it finally came on yesterday evening!! We were actually trying to figure out where we could go and wear out our welcome...LOL! No---really, we just didn't want to stay in the heat, and all of a sudden, we heard a few transformers blow and boom, WE HAD POWER!!! Then a short while later, a local church Pastor came by our house, as we were gathered with our neighbors celebrating, and offered us all a hot meal..yummy!!! AND ICE, another common necessity!! Anyway, all day today, I cleaned and cleaned AND went to the grocery store to replinish our frig!! All that AND the kids go back to school on Wednesday, it's celebration time!!! Home everyone else out there who doesn't have power gets it really soon!!
Love to alll!!
Love to alll!!

After IKE!
Well, it has officially been 1 week since IKE hit the Houston area! We are still in the dark (without power) and have been told we will not get power back until AFTER Thursday, the 25th! The kids are still out of school, since the school is in our neighborhood, guess they'll be out until we get power back! We stayed the entire week with my brother and his family. They had a generator and all was well, but when Dwayne got an offer to go out of town for work, I was like...WE ARE IN!!! So, here we (me and the kids) sit in a hotel in Texarkana! It's not home, and the kids of course are bored, but I'm so thankful to have a bed with AC where we can sit and be happy! We are going to Cracker Barrel for lunch today, that should be fun! Other than that, there is not much to do! The pool is like swimming in ICE and the kids can only handle it for a few minutes before they are like, we are ready to get out! (it's an indoor pool)!!
Clay is sitting here breathing heavily in my ear, we are in the business office of the hotel, and he is BOOOREED!!! Can you imagine?!?!
Well, I'll post pics and stuff later....just had to get my computer 'fix'!! LOL!! Please keep praying that we get power soon....I can't take much more of this!!!

Waiting on IKE
So--I've got the groceries, gas in the cars, IPODS charged, Nintendos charged and windows boarded up...now we just wait! Tonight is like the calm before the storm. We are going to my brother's and swimming, or letting the kids release some anxiety before tomorrow evening. We will be staying at my brother's house, because we have way too many BIG, TALL trees in our yard...I'm most afraid of the wind!! They are predicting 95mph winds all the way to us in Spring/Klein!!!
At least we get to sleep late tomorrow since the kids are out of school...YAY...that's a plus for me! I'll keep you all posted!!
Pray for us that IKE is nice when he passes through H-Town!
